Week
3 with the Top 16 was 80s week (can you guess the progression? 90s next
week?). As with the previous two weeks, the boys sang Tuesday, the girls
on Wednesday and the results were announced on Thursday.
Here’s
how they ranked:
The Boys:
1. Jason Castro: such a cute
voice!
2. David
Hernandez: choppy beginning, but great at the end
3. David Cook: really good
4. Chikeze Eze: pretty good
5. Michael Johns: out of tune;
don't like the way his voice sounds; better at end
6. David Archuleta: okay; not
his best
7. Danny Noriega: okay
8. Luke Menard: he's
charming, but his singing was bad-felt like karaoke
And
the girls:
1. Kristy Lee
Cook: good; made song her own
2. Ramiele
Malubay: status quo for her
3. Syesha Mercado:
great
4. Carly Smithson: pretty good
5. Brooke White: okay, but
felt like she was holding back
6. Kady Malloy: couldn't
pull off big notes; boring; overall okay
7. Asia'h
Epperson: pitchy; ended a little better; inconsistent
8. Amanda Overmyer: her voice is
awful! Performance was fun; probably her best
On
results night Blake Lewis (my future second husband) performed (a very pleasant
surprise!). His performance was great, but I would have preferred to have
heard a different song from his album. Kady Malloy, Luke Menard, Asia'h
Epperson and Danny Noriega were sent a-packin'. I'm sad to see Kady go,
but I agree with the choice; she has so much personality during her interviews,
but then when it gets to be the time for her to sing, she's like a robot.
My Two Cents:
-Check

magazine did a little "Celeb Math" where they matched up two famous
people who combined created one of the current Idols. Pretty
entertaining!
-Has anyone else noticed that Danny
sounds exactly like Terry on
-Amanda looks so awkward when she
smiles-like it hurts.
-Has Paula become more incoherent than
ever, or is just me? Every time she opens her mouth I'm like, "what
the hell did she just say?!?!"
-By now you've probably noticed that I
haven't "picked my pony" yet. The problem is that I can't keep
any of the girls straight. They are practically all skinny blondes.
And they are all forgettable. But I think I'm ready to start backing
someone….

fave:
Jason
Castro. I love how pure and sweet he (and his voice) are. I love
that he's had no formal training. I admit, I think David Hernandez is
quite sexy and his voice is good, but he just couldn't quite steal my
heart.
Scandals
of the week:
1. David
Hernandez: worked as a stripper for three years. Could hurt his votes
with the red states, but explains where he perfected those bedroom eyes.
If the Bible thumpers help him get voted off, I’ll be on the first plane out to
AZ. Why is this such a scandal?
Frenchie Davis from Season 2 was kicked off the show for having topless photos
of herself online, which she had fully disclosed. Unfair? Clearly.
- Amanda Overmyer:
was arrested for a DUI in 2006 and never told AI producers about
it. Her mug shot is now plastered all over the internet. Why is this such a scandal? Other
contestants have been kicked out for neglecting to mention shady pasts.
- Danny Noriega: has
a video on the internet where he tells everyone he hopes Santa does mean
things to their moms. Why
is this such a scandal? It’s quite offensive and shows a
very different side of our effeminate Danny. Could have been the
reason he got the boot.
- Robbie Carrico:
wears a wig. He denies this claim. Why is this such a scandal? It’s not, really; but
it sure is funny!
